Your company's visibility in Google AI Overviews, AI Mode and ChatGPT Search does not require abandoning SEO. However, it requires better execution of its basics: the website must be accessible to robots, clearly describe the company and services, answer real customer questions and present information that can be verified and quoted. There is no single “SEO for AI” tag that will replace good architecture, content and reputation.
The way of finding answers has changed. Google says its AI features can split a user's question into several more specific searches. Thanks to this, different sources can appear in one answer: a guide, comparison, documentation, a local company and a specific service. For the company, it is an opportunity to acquire a customer earlier than at the stage of entering the phrase "software house Łódź" or "website development".
What does SEO mean in the era of AI search engines?
Classic SEO helps the search engine find, understand and rate your website. Optimizing for answers generated by AI adds another goal: the content should provide precise fragments that the system can use in answer to a complex question. This applies to both information and purchasing inquiries, for example:
- which CRM system to choose for a service company and how to integrate it,
- how much does a dedicated web application cost and what does the pricing depend on,
- how to prepare an online store for foreign sales,
- which software house has experience in KSeF integrations and process automation.
A website that responds with only one sentence: "we create modern solutions" does not provide enough information. We need described processes, technologies, limitations, implementation results and answers to questions arising before the purchase.
1. Ensure content is indexed and accessible
The best article won't provide a response if the crawler can't retrieve it or the page only renders key content after a JavaScript error. The basic audit should cover:
- HTTP response codes, redirects and canonical addresses,
- robots.txt and XML sitemap with correct update dates,
- rendering the most important content in HTML,
- no accidental noindex on services, projects and articles,
- access to Googlebot, Bingbot and AI search robots that the company wants to support.
OpenAI indicates that a public site may appear in ChatGPT Search as long as it does not block the OAI-SearchBot. At the same time, the indexing robot should not have access to CRM, customer panel or protected data. Rules for the public and private parts need to be separated.
2. Build content around customer decisions
A good strategy does not involve publishing hundreds of similar entries generated for variations of one phrase. It is better to prepare complete thematic clusters corresponding to the next stages of the decision:
- Recognizing the problem: why the current website does not generate inquiries or where the company is wasting time.
- Solution evaluation: ready-made system or dedicated application, WordPress or proprietary CMS, integration or manual work.
- Artist selection: process, security, maintenance, costs, deadlines and liability.
- Confirmation of credibility: case study, portfolio, scope of work and measurable results.
Each article should have its own intention and lead to a specific service. Thanks to this, it does not compete with other subpages of the same domain and supports sales instead of generating random traffic.
3. Use the answer at the beginning and the elaboration below
The user and the AI system should get to the point quickly. It's best to start the section with a short, direct answer and then explain the conditions, exceptions, and how to implement it. Clear headings, checklists, comparison tables and definitions help with this.
This does not mean simplifying all texts. When it comes to technology services, details are valuable: API authorization method, migration strategy, acceptance criteria and performance limits. Specificity builds trust and differentiates the team's experience from general content.
4. Show who the company is and why it is worth trusting
The search engine must connect the brand name with a real entity, specializations and area of activity. The website should contain consistent company details, team description, contact details, scope of services, location and examples of completed projects. Articles should be signed by the author or team and provide the date of update.
The most useful evidence is your own experience: the client's problem statement, solution architecture, design decisions, and outcome. Anonymous declarations without examples send a much weaker signal to the recipient than well-prepared ones case study.
5. Add structured data consistent with the visible content
Schema.org helps machines recognize the type of page and the relationships between information. For a software house website, Organization, LocalBusiness, Service, BlogPosting, BreadcrumbList and FAQPage are useful. The data must match what the user actually sees. Hidden reviews, false ratings or automatically added FAQs can damage your credibility.
6. Take care of efficiency, mobile and accessibility
Google emphasizes that the current technical requirements also remain valid for AI functions. Stable layout, fast loading of key content, correct headings and keyboard support support the user, indexing and conversion. A heavy widget, banner or animation should not delay the answer to the question with which the user came to the site.
7. Measure citations, traffic and queries, not just positions
The report should combine several sources: visibility and queries in Google Search Console, inputs from AI tools, behavior on service pages, and forms and phones. Citing the brand itself is valuable, but the business goal remains to talk to the right customer.
What not to do?
- Don't publish almost identical texts en masse just to cover all variations of a keyword.
- Don't treat llms.txt as a substitute for good SEO and accessible content.
- Do not add structured data that the user cannot confirm on the page.
- Do not block the entire website for fear of robots if the goal is to be visible in AI results.
- Don't measure success solely by the number of sessions without checking the quality of the queries.

Frequently asked questions
Is there separate website optimization for ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews?
There is no single switch or special tag that guarantees presence in AI responses. The foundations remain indexability, useful and reliable content, correct information architecture, structured data and the ability to cite specific parts of the page.
Does llms.txt improve page ranking in AI responses?
llms.txt can help agents understand key site resources, but it does not provide visibility on its own. It does not replace robots.txt, sitemap, indexing, content quality or internal linking.
Should you allow OAI-SearchBot to access the site?
Yes, if the company wants its public content to appear in ChatGPT Search results. Access should be set consciously in robots.txt, without sharing administration panels, customer data and other private areas.
How to measure inputs from ChatGPT and other AI search engines?
Traffic can be analyzed in the analytics tool based on referral sources, landing pages and conversions. It is worth separating the mere appearance of the brand in AI responses from real visits, inquiries and sales.
